The aim of this workshop is to equip participants with practical tools to make effective decisions and assess the most efficient use of available resources. Throughout the sessions, participants are coached in the use of structured approaches to problem solving. Practice in using problem solving and creative thinking is provided throughout the workshop through a variety of simulations and role plays.
Tools presented include: Paired Comparison Analysis, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Force Field Analysis, Plus-Minus-Interesting, Diagramming, Nominal Group Technique.
Program Objectives
At the end of this training, participants should be able to:
- define a problem situation
- choose between a set of options where each has its own advantages and disadvantages
- make a quantifiable comparison between alternative options
- systematical comparing related options, and unrelated options
- carryout a force field analysis
- compare the benefits versus the costs of taking different options
- visualize the critical thinking process
- use creativity and critical thinking resources to generate new approaches
- practice techniques to prevent dominant people from take over the meeting or the decision making process
